What are the important things?

Since writing on HubPages, I have found two things to be undeniably true; if I write with passion, an article does far better statistically, and if I am writing because I just want to get an article out, I know it won't do as well.

WRITING WITH PASSION

I go head-over-heals when it comes to big dumb dogs, or any dog for that matter. I could spend my days happily hanging around, playing and snuggling with these wolf like beasts. So when I put pen to pad on a dog related article, I find my brain and hands to become very in-tune with each other. The ease with which the words and information rush to the forefront of my mind is amazing, information begins lining up waiting its turn to run down my arm and activate the tactile motions of my hands making dog related words appear on my computer screen, and it feels good, it feels smooth and it feels right.

When passionate hubs are written, I find it a delightful task to monetize the page, make the search engine optimization (SEO) flow nicely within the words, manage the position of keywords and related terms. I know I am offering the best bits of top knowledge that are telling my readers how to contend with their canine best friends. It is an honor to bring this type of hub to hub pages and the readers that are kind enough to follow what I write about, and the things I feel are the most important to me.

Linking the hubs together because they teach on different portions of the same topic helps me to add value to my hubs.Basically referring my reader to another hub that can continue the teaching within, in my case, the "Dog" topic. I can add rss feeds that update the hub with the "latest" or "best" or "hot" piece of work on the subject I have published, or connect to a friendly feed of another hubber I know will, again improve my readers experience.

Passionate Marketing

Another thing I find very helpful when writing about the most important things to me, is the nifty 'suggest links' tool at the top of every hub I write. Once I have written the hub, monetized it, am happy with the SEO and rss feeds, I can broaden my teaching by using related 'suggested links'. By clicking on the tab and watching the suggestions highlight all over my hub, I get an opportunity to discover more information that might help my reader. It is truly the easiest way to add intellectual value to the topic you are presenting. This also helps with a hubbers 'Hub Karma' score. In essence, what you are doing is allowing this great tool hub pages provides you with to find related hubs, so can choose the best links to other hubbers (or your own) hubs. When you click on the highlighted word within a sentence, a list containing several other hubs pops up for you to review and find the most related article for you to link with.

When you link to hubs, you help other hubbers (which is always a good thing) and you gain better hub karma, the bonus on top of dong all these good things is, you are bettering your readers adventure which will keep bringing them back to read the topics you write so passionately about. Now isn't this what it's all about? Oh, and of course the better time your reader has at your hub, the more apt they are to tell a friend or share your work, which brings more readers, potentially adding to your monetizing goals with dollar signs all adding up to a growing bank account. It is amazing what writing can bring to you, but it must always start with a passionate reason to write or teach on a topic.

I frequently say, "Write because you can, and then because baby needs new shoes!"

WRITING TO JUST GET ANOTHER ARTICLE OUT

If I feel the need to pump-out another hub just to hit a quota or meet a numbers goal, I find the lack of passion within the body of writing can become flat and uninteresting; only bringing the most loyal of readers to the party. If you present this level of work, that is if you write without depth and lack teaching, you may find that your loyal readers will slowly begin to graze in another pasture.

If making a living at this online writing is a true heartfelt need, No matter what your subject matter is, you must find a way to inject passion somewhere. If you feel the drive to present material that offers information, or a product review, or you have a store you want to sell 'things' on, I honestly feel you should have a passion for that information, product or store.

Knowing how to market and gain SEO for this type of hub is an art that requires the know how to make it profitable,...possibly the profitability of the hub is where the passion is harbored within you. That is still passion and that is what is great about writing; we each find passion in different places within the body of work.

So, in conclusion, writing about the most important thing 'to you' while delivering passion, will bring you the greatest success when presenting hubs or writing of any type. Writing just to get another article out may increase your hub numbers, however be mindful that you don't deplete the interest of your loyal hub followers.

I have included for your increased reading pleasure some very good hub linksby hubbers that I think will help you advance the quality and financial potential of your hubs. When you write about the most important things to you, these hub links will make an excellent selection to refer to time and time again. Now, go write a hub about the things you find important, keep it passionate, informative, offer something cool and learn how to monetize it effectively by reading hubs by knowledgeable hubbers!

I agree with your views. what is the use of writing anything without passion? If I'm not passionate about something I can't write at all.

Sunnyglitter~Thanks for stopping by. I think without a passion for the topic, a hub can fall flat and seem monitone. That is not what hubPages is about. So I am glad to see you write with passion and realize that your passion makes it all worth the read in the first place!

Thank you for your comments.

SG~Thanks for the great comments. I use the suggested links as a tool to improve my readers experience, so i add many other hubbers hub links to my articles. I don't always have the best choice of hubs for the best reader experience. Someone may have a different view I feel the reader may find interesting. And it never hurts to show some hub love in terms of sharing.

Always look for the best link for your reader, use your own link when it fits, but always have your reader in mind!

Always glad to see you stopped by hub-buddy!

Great Hub, K9, you know it's really good to get some understanding of how and why people write. Could I ask you, I've been wanting to know this a long time, when you put feeds in, can you put in dog feeds only? all I know is hot, latest, best. I'd really appreciate that.

With suggest links, I was told to keep it within my own hubs...is that totally correct? I think what you said is more fair and better to get people to enjoy and spread the word about you. That's a wise thought:)

I like your point about writing what you're passionate about! I usually do that, but I have tried to pump hubs out to increase my numbers, and I agree, it's just not as good. My main niche, mental illness or bipolar gets the higest hub scores and traffic. Someone once said "Your hubs will not make you money cause they're about religion and stuff.."

Well, I disagree, bipolar is a hot topic and kinda not so popular which is good for monetizing though all I can sell is books on it, or perhaps google is best-the ads.

I've been told that product hubs are most $$ making but you know, as you said, you have to write what you're passionate about, and I'm really not very passionate about much products :)

Bookmarked and voted up and useful and awesome.

K9, I'm glad I finally could give you a good long comment! xxoo Rose

Your advice is helpful to the new hubber, like me, who hasn't a clue about hublinks, etc. I want to read this more and try to understand the process you talk about wher eyou click on a particular tag and share. I guess as I play around with the site, I will learn more. I'm not trying to earn money at th moment, I just enjoy the community and the vastness of info out there. Wow. Thank you for helping me along.

Hubs such as this one are priceless and I am bookmarking it as one of the most useful hubs so I can refer back to it easily. I am looking forward to reading more of your work. Take care K9..

K9 this is an excellent hub. I'm sure that others can relate and will appreciate knowing that they are not alone in with this dilemma. I know when I first started my intent was to write about the economy, finances, etc. anything to do with money (hence, the avatar name). Never would have dreamed that I would love writing about all aspects of health. :)

Pcunix~Thanks for stopping by, it's so nice to see you! I appreciate your feelings on the passionate writer giving me reason to share a hub,...I want to know that writer has told me about something they have emotions about.

Scribenet~Writing at your pace and passion is the right thing to do. As you write more you will discover your ability to write faster is a true bonus that just seems to speed up naturally with time.

erthfrend~ I am so pleased to see you use the words 'feeling' and 'flow'. They say so much about why you write and it makes me think you write for the best reason of all, your passions!

Thank all of you for your comments and for stopping by to take in a quick read, it means the world!

I agree. I figure I will increase my Hubs slowly because I write what motivates me to write. Should I have to write from just a few keywords, I would be high and dry in the motivation department...so until I can write about anything at a drop of the hat, it will be the slow route, which I e enjoy!

Pcunix profile image

Pcunix Level 7 Commenter 20 months ago

Yes, I agree with you about passion. I find it almost impossible to write if I am not passionate and I don't care a bit about reading anything that is not, nor am I likely to click that "Share" button unless the author was reaching inside themselves.
